Graduates in agriculture have a vast expanse of professions to choose from either immediately after matriculation or through the post-graduate route. The avenues available range from undertaking farming as a profession to designing crops for the future. The wide subject area that the programme exposes the students to enables them to choose fields in extension and marketing, research and development, consultation and management and from bioinformatics to geoinformatics. The known limitation among the students is the lack of awareness of the scope of their subject and the lack of guidance on the path to reach their professional goals. We, through the career guidance and placement cell, help the students to explore areas of their interest. Further, we provide a platform for students to listen to and/or interact with stalwarts in varied fields. We also help them break the conventional mold and guide them to identify and acquire skills required by the field of their choice over and above those obtained through their undergraduate agriculture program. Personality development and motivational programs to students is on the anvil.
