Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy. More than 65 percent of our population depends on agriculture. One-third of our national income comes from agriculture. The development of agriculture has much to do with the economic welfare of our country. The Government is trying to help the farmers in bringing new initiatives to help farmers making agriculture sustainable. ‘RVS Agriculture College’ is one such accomplishment in the arena of sustainable agriculture rendering service to nature and mankind.
The RVS Agriculture College (self-financing) was started in the academic year 2013-14 and offers a four year B.Sc. (Ag.) professional degree. It is located 4 Kms from Trichy-Thanjavur National Highway (Usilampatti Taluk, via - Sengipatti). Thanjavur is known as the "Rice bowl of Tamil Nadu”, situated in the adjoin side of Cauvery Delta region, which serves as the best natural source of water to promote agriculture.
Students admitted to this program will follow the common syllabi and examination system of the Tamilnadu Agriculture University. The college has an area of 400 acres for the practical training of the degree students and to have crop cafeteria for the benefit of the students to see and know the different crop varieties.
The Institute has 400 acres of land at a stretch and has well established farms including
- Academic buildings.

- Dairy, Sheep and Goat, Piggery and Poultry Units.
- Orchard and Horticultural Crops.
- Agro forestry.
- Garden Lands.
